Hello, i have a friend who rents a house in brandon. She pays quite a bit for rent and is rarely ever late paying rent. Her stove quit months ago and her landlord keeps telling her in a few weeks but it never comes. How long does someone wait for repairs to be done? I personally find going months without a stove unacceptable. And my landlord is very good about getting stuff done when needed. As quickly as possible. So this is new to me.  
Anyways my questions are  
how long does a renter wait for repairs to be done?  
what are her options to get this stuff done?  
how does she go about getting change when the landlord doesnt see it as being wrong?  
I mean for 1100 a month you would think stuff would get done when it needs to be.. :/

I'm a landlord and I do any needed repairs within days of getting a report. It's landlords like that that give us all a bad reputation. She should contact residential tenancies. There is no excuse for a tenant going without a working appliance when it could be fixed or replaced if necessary within days. It upsets me to hear crap like this.

Have your friend get the Tenant's Request for Repair forum, fill it out, send a copy to the landlord and one to the Residential Tenancies Branch asap.  
 
Having said that based from experiences from myself and some people (some which have since then moved) at my apartment, the renter may end up having to play the 'game' and may end up being treated bad. Its garbage like this which gives the legit landlords a bad name.  
 
That stove should of been replaced asap as its an essential appliance.

Every bad landlord there is a bad tennant im sure. I dont know many who would lump them all into one catagory,  
 
Ten, i do believe they are i:ncluded otherwise why say she would get someone in to fix it in the first place?  
 
I have advised her to contact the rental board after writing a letter stating how long this has been an issue and asking her to fix it one last time before the rental board.
