I got a lesson in how tires actually work. What the different tread designs mean and how they work differently for separate applications. He said since I don't drive a lot of gravel, having a winter tire would be fine. (Gravel is bad for every tire) This will be my second winter set that was put on, I put the first set on three years ago. I drive a mid size suv, I got a little over 80000 kms. Most tires aren't going to last more than that anyway. I also didn't buy the cheapest winter tire out there. You buy cheap, you get cheap. " |

Why not get a set of all season tires? You will get superior performance out of an all-season tire once it's warmer, especially in the rain. Instead of replacing your winter tires every three years, you'll replace two sets of tires every six years. It's essentially the same cost but you get improved summer safety and performance.
