Need to have a similar by-law in Brandon.Seems more and more companies and residents are using the street for storage.

Traffic By-law No 5463/16/87 Part III 35. (m)(5) says it is an offence to park a recreational vehicle for more that 48 hours.

It's an offence to park any trailer on a city that is not connected to a vehicle. Part III 35 (M)(4)

A thing to remember is that by-law enforcement in Brandon is complaint driven, meaning only if you call will they do anything about an offence. As far as unattached trailers..... drove buy 8 on the way to work not long ago. Seems like most don't know the rules or just know they will never get a ticket.

Our bylaw officers do not enforce many of the bylaws.

Try calling in the complaint to the appropriate place? Complaining on here doesn't do a darn thing.

Yes exactly let's have more laws let's charge residents more money as if what taxes we pay is not enough. Better yet let's make a law to charge residents for having a vehicle or let's make it so that people that can afford recreation vehicles have to buy one for somebody who can't afford one. Sounds like the OP has issues with anybody that may have something he doesn't.

So say someone buys the $50 permit that allows an rv to be parked for 3 days, 4 times a year, how does bylaw enforce the limit of 4 times a year, do they create a file for everyone kind of like an rv registry ?  
 
Friggin bullcrap taxes, its not ok to do something unless you pay the city for the right to, then its ok.

there is a vehicle parked in front of my house that hasn't moved since march. No company name on it but was used for a work vehicle, maybe isn't in working order or maybe no employee to drive anymore but it is always there 24/7.  
I don't think it is right.

Here's an example, a blue Chev Lumjna van has been parked near 22nd Street and Richmond Avenue since last fall. Has not moved once. It's covered. In dust probably half an inch thick. Not sure because it's parked on the south side of Richmond Avenue whether it would be the city or province regulated. I'm guessing no complaints have been made. How many street cleaners and/or snowllows have gone around thus can?  
So my point is, unless someone complains any vehicle, rv or whatever will be parked for an eternity.

Abandoned or vehicles not moved is different than a boat or an RV trailer or for that matter a trailer for snowmobiles or quads. If it is abandoned car that is parked someplace for a month or more report it it will be ticketed and towed. If it is somebody's camper or boat that is getting ready to go out for the weekend leave them alone.

call it into by-law. To have a by-law officer drive up and down every street every day to check weather a vehicle or trailer has most isn't very efficient. And that's why many of these by-laws are complaint driven.

Depends on your neighbour. I had my trailer stuck in front of my house once for more than 2 days because the tow vehicle was in the shop. Neighbour must have complained after the first 10 seconds because exactly 48 hrs after parking the trailer I had bylaw enforcement at my door.

We have a lot of contractors living in the area these days. Constant trailers and work equipment left on the street. That I can handle if I must. What I don't like is dodging vehicles coming out of alleys or streets. They can't see me and I can't see them until the last second because some idiot chooses to park his work crap too close to the intersection/backlane.  
 
Brandon bylaw should NOT wait for complaints to be called in for this. It's a safety issue. It's getting worse. This nice residential area is looking like the industrial park.

Can anyone explain for me the purpose of the 2 by-laws mentioned (trailers not attached and the 48 hr limit)? I have to register my trailers through MPI and they are considered vehicles under the provincial regulations. Why can't I park them on the street the same as any other legally registered vehicle?  
 
And why is there a 48 hour parking limit on the street? I moved here after living in a couple of other cities and had never heard of such a by-law before. If street work was being done, temporary signs were put up and vehicles had to be moved (or ticketed and towed). The city of Brandon used to do that for street sweeping but this year, at least in our area, there was no signs put up. The sweepers came through on a business day, during school hours (we live by a school) so a lot of the street didn't get swept because people had their vehicles legally parked around the school. Sorry for the tangent, but it leads back to my question about the 48 hour by-law.

Report it to the city. By law will look into.
