Maybe you should try and actually read the signs because it said the cashiers can only give up to $50 cash back when you go through the till if you want to cash your cheque. They were handing out cheques from 3:30-6.

Cheques are available today. What the sign said was that they could not give cash back off the equity cheques. What that means is that you cannot take a $46.00 equity cheque in and buy a pack of gum and expect to get the cash back in change. (BUT, if you took a $46.00 equity cheque in and bought $56.00 worth of groceries, then you could sign off the cheque and along with $10.00 cash or debit give it as payment)

Just wondering how much do you buy from them and how much you will get back annually? I am not CO-OP member and not a regular buyer from coop. I buy sometimes from coop though.  
For example if you buy like 1000 grocery per year from coop how much will you get back normally? I know it depends on their profit of the year, but I would like to have an idea.

We buy most of our gas and groceries there and get about $140. $1000 spent isn't going to get you much.

I spent over $3,000 last year and my cheque was $45.  
However, part of the allocation goes into your equity account which you can cash in at 65, move or die.

At least Heritage gives an equity cheque.  
 
We have a Co-op membership in a different town (not a Heritage Co-op town) and make a lot of farm purchases there and haven't received an equity cheque in years.

So once you reach 65 no more equity? What then?

You still get equity after 65.

After age 65 you can ask to receive your accumulated equity. After that, all patronage money is given in cash: no more is given into your equity account.
