Hey Brandonites. I need to take my teenager out parallel parking for practice. He is only 11 days away from his road test and needs some extra practice. Anyone know where there might be poles set-up for us to use? I know the MPI ones are locked up and shouldn't be used during the day anyway. Thanks for the help!

-You could set up your own very easily. Just measure the distance between to two parking meters and park your wife's car, your garbage cans, etc...half that distance apart on a quiet side street near you. That is what I am going to do for my novice driver next week. there may also be something about the "official" distance in the driver's handbook. I haven't looked yet as mine has to wait until Dec. for her road test.

use your Drivers handbook to get the distances and either use milk jugs with sticks or go to dollarama and buy 4 cheap cones and 4 driveway poles and you are set, closest thing you will get to the real poles and its good enough, plus the right price lol

But these are both great ideas. Thank you. We will try the bins & car but we live on a hill, so the cones and sticks or broomsticks from dollarama will be a great back up plan.

when our girl was learning parallel parking I made my own poles. The spots are marked behind MPI on 1st so you just have to set them on the spot. If you want a set let me know

Is there anyone(instructors) in Brandon that will go over road test regulations with a novice driver before their test? When I did my road test I was able to book an hour with an instructor before hand to refresh my skills..wondering if anyone still does this.. Any info would be a great help!

We swung by MPI this afternoon. A fellow had 3 ft twigs in pop bottles full of water helping his friend run the drills. Official length is 25 ft. curb to first line side to side is 6'6". outside line is 8' .Not sure what they represent-but that what the marks are. Hope this helps.
