Mcdonalds kiosks

I don't know about the other locations but Victoria avenue location, they need to fix their kiosks. No idea what has happened but you cannot customize your meals anymore (add cheese, diff sauce, bacon, etc) I asked two workers and they have no clue

Fill out the mcdonalds survey and complain there.

I can't stand the kiosks. They are not very responsive and I'm not really a germ-a-phobe but the thought of all the random hands touching that screen before you, makes me gag

I like the kiosks. First choice is to order from a real person but if the lineup is any more than 2 deep the kiosk is real handy to keep things moving. Just put my breakfast order through this AM without any issue, as always made a few substitutions to get exactly what we wanted. Was told that it's the build a burger option that's been discontinued (I don't know if that's just Brandon or elsewhere). Guessing build a burger didn't get used much. The concept itself is cool but I know for me the price point on it just ramped up so much that I was feeling like I should've just gone to a regular restaurant for a burger.

The one additional step I'd like them to take is allowing order to be submitted into the system via app. Would be super handy to place and pay for order before we leave, get there and have it ready!

I love the kiosks. I'm such a visual person that it helps me tremendously. Whenever I use a person, they always seem to mess it up, either because I'm not explaining myself clearly or I'm not understand the feedback they're giving me.

But yeah, complain to MacDonald's. I'm sure the local guys don't have much control over what's loaded onto those machines.

I prefer the kiosks...

When you are ordering for 3 or 4 people, it is common for a person not to hear you right. With the kiosks, you can add extra sauce to one burger, hold the pickles on another, let someone who is having trouble deciding think for a bit... all the while not worrying about people lined up behind.

My feeling is that the "build a burger" was probably underutilized, but probably gave them loads of data on what people liked to build, and therefore some new burger offers going forward. Now if they would just open up the customize menu a bit so that I can add Mac Sauce and lettuce to my McDouble (Mini-Mac).

Love the kiosks!! They always mess up your order so I prefer them. Also, they're super helpful for people with sorts of disabilities

I have found different things on them that I didn't even realize McDonald's served. I find them super quick and convenient.

I am also a huge fan of the kiosks. I can review my Order and make sure it's right. Half the time if I order at the till they get something wrong. I also love not having to stand in line. As for germs, you're in a public place. Sitting at a public table that was probably not washed thoroughly, sitting on seats where other people Sat. I prefer using a kiosk over a public bathroom. Walmart carts probably have more germs then the kiosk.. imo

I personally think the kiosks are a great addition to the restaurants. My kids love to help me enter their order and I've always had someone able to help me when I've needed help. I find them more relaxing than standing beside another customer trying to order. The kiosks can't be dirtier than door handles and pin pads or the money in your pocket.

I refuse to use them and any other self serve. Those are people jobs they are trying to elimate. In-Person ordering is the only way I'll go

They say it isn't that simple. This is an Alberta article from last year, but I'm sure it scales similarly to Manitoba.... as part of rolling out the kiosks they were actually increasing the amount of jobs:

And this more current article from this summer talks about the fact that sales have increased at stores that have added kiosks, which its said results in the redistribution of duties within restaurants as opposed to axing jobs:

Re cleanliness, have notice that Sobeys regularly gives their kiosks a brush over and wouldn't be at all surprised if McD does something similar.

I use the kiosks because I have social anxiety. Does anyone know the store number for Victoria Avenue location? I cannot fill out the survey without a number and I lost my receipt. I hope the other locations have them because the one on Victoria Avenue did have the “add bacon, add cheese, add whatever” but it is now unavailable. I tried ordering a junior chicken or mcsausage but couldn’t add bacon or cheese, it was not an option anymore. Point is, I like prefer the kiosks too. Hope they are available for more restaurants in the future!

Not taking jobs

I have worked at McDonalds as an assistant manager. Trying to hire enough people to meet the demand is incredibly hard. Too many people want to work for a paycheck and never show up again. The kiosks are helping owners meet the demands of the people without increasing the wait times.

before but am a huge fan of the self-serve cash outs at canadian tire and the food stores etc. as long as it is scanable items. no loose vegies etc. so will try MacDs kiosks next time.

as far as eliminating jobs.If they would put any displaced cashiers ( if there are any which i doubt) out on the floor to help customers at the point of sale which is really on the floor with the product choices then you have better service where it counts.

The ordering interface and scheme of the terminals is too complicated: the receipts are often not printed.

They could use a single item order screen i.e. coffee. I often go in for one item: spend five minutes trying to understanding the graphical user interface: find single items. The learning curve is too steep for just a coffee.

I think the terminal is a timely idea: welcome it use as an aside. However, the staff and managers seem maxed out trying to maintain other systems. Terminals may not survive if they can't figure out a way to get customers and managers to deal with the system's own hassles.

I will file some of this with the managers, but realize it may not filter up to the people that make actual decisions. Oh the bureau-crazy of life.

I was at the Richmond Avenue Location lastnight and you couldn’t customize your burgers either
