I am looking for input from anyone that has owned a pair of manitoba mukluks. I see there is a waterproof model and a non waterproof model available with a difference of about $50 dollars in price. After speaking with some people I am noticing that there are mixed feelings as to which model is better for a manitoba environment. On one hand, the waterproof models will stay dry from water and snow, but may cause your feet to condensate due to a lack of breathable material. This can result in getting cold feet faster. With the non waterproof model I have heard that feet can stay warmer due to a more breathable material, but may be subject to dampness in slushy or wet snow conditions. It has been suggested that water resistant spray on protectors and the non waterproof models may actually be the better choice to purchase for a warmer boot. Thought Id see what experiences people on ebrandon have had. Which model have you owned and what would you recommend?

I have non waterproof ones. I got them earlier this year I didn't know there was waterproof ones. I find mind warm and at rare times can get a bit damp if Ive been thru deep snow. But I'm trying to keep them in good shape and clean (no salt). So I may get some sorel winter boots or something for when I have go thru snow. But I love my Manitobah mukluks

I've had mine for years. They have the rubber sole on them so I don't have to worry about water seeping in from a hide sole. I clean them with a soft tooth brush and water/vinegar solution), wait for them to dry then spray them with a weather-proofing spray (just don't get it on the fur, it's naturally weather-proofed).  
I find this helps prevent water from getting in the boots, from getting salt stains and keeps them looking newer longer as well.  
I've found with these boots it is all in taking proper care of them. It's pretty easy to pick out the boots that aren't cared for properly.

Mine are waterproof, I got them last year. I'm in the country, and through deep snow so I figured I'd go with the extra protection. They work great, keep my feet warm but of course I still can't walk through slush or anything. I think the waterproof ones are made in Vietnam.

And they are on their third year and they look brand new. I meant to spray them when I first got them and I forgot. And honestly I don’t take amazing care of them. Mine go in deep snow and sometimes can get wet but they look amazing and work awesome. I think the non waterproof ones would be fine, but totally your choice.
