Has anyone done an IKEA kitchen? Did you install it yourself? Does anyone know if anyone will do an IKEA kitchen in Brandon (install)...I realize no one would likely want to assemble the cabinets...

You can do it yourself. It isn''t too difficult it just takes time. I know IKEA does offer installation services. Check out this link for further info

We have an Ikea kitchen. Assembled and installed ourselves. It really isn''t that difficult once you get rolling. The instructions are all in pictures... some may find that easier, some may find it harder.  
 
We installed it four years ago and it still looks as good as it did the day we installed it, and that''s with two kids under 3 in the house. I love, love, love it!  
 
Since we installed ours, we''ve had a couple friends do them in their homes. Skill and confidence levels ranged, but they all installed the kitchen themselves and are all extremely happy with their results.  
 
Doing it yourself will take longer and you may have some frustration when installing depending how skilled you are, but you will save a lot of money... so it depends how you feel about that trade-off.

We are considering new cupboards from IKEA as well. However, my husband is NOT interested in installing them himself at all!! He isn’t confident in it and He would rather pay someone to do it properly. We are also wanting to go from a single to double sink so I don’t know if that makes it harder? Is there anyone in Brandon that does this sort of thing?  
 
From a financial viewpoint, how much would someone charge to put in cupboards that were already assembled? (Although, he might want them to assemble too lol)  
 
Any other tips when looking at IKEA cupboards? Or things to avoid? Look out for? Do they last a long time?

I know someone who just had a RONA designed kitchen installed by "a guy". Six (6) weeks. Used their bathroom sink as the kitchen sink.  
 
Expect the unexpected: "that ain't right", plumbing, wiring, wall repair, flooring. Is your kitchen square and level? Mine sure as heck is not.  
 
I "can" do it, but would not. Butch at Stone Cabinets in Dauphin, I live there, can do it faster and cheaper than I can. The small amount that I had done? He installed, with granite, for less than I could buy the parts for.

I'll give that guy a call maybe....I'm getting "Ballpark" quotes of $15,000-$20,000 my IKEA kitchen is $4950....both quotes were before installation.

We did ours in our cabin, having never installed cupboards before and found the ikea cabinets were pretty easy to install. We built an island out of them and installed the countertops ourselves.

If you want somebody else to install your kitchen, a decent person is going to charge at least 2 times the cost of material. And that's just for installation. A kitchen renovation cause easily cost $20-$30 grand.  
 
I do kitchen installations and the other quotes are in the ball park of what I would charge.

I did mine this summer. Some important points to think about:They are pretty simple to assemble and install- careful measuring and planning is important: I assembled 19 cabinets and not a single one had holes misdrilled or aligned- quality control is very high: the job will take a lot longer than you think. Allow for this- we chose summer so we could use the camper in our driveway for cooking and doing dishes: Ikea has a kitchen sale twice a year where you get back 10% of your purchase price in gift cards-try to buy them then- $570 in my pocket: Was very happy with the finished job, great looking cabinets where everything is drawers instead of shelves and everything is soft-close, chose the Bodbyn Gray model. The only thing I didn't do myself was the countertop cuz everything else had turned out so well I didn't want to ruin the final job by botching that. I chose Ikea cabinets because they are pretty much idiot-proof, and they were. I am not a tradesman by any stretch. Good luck!

I have a deck off my back door where I can do a lot of prep work, OUTSIDE, before finishing inside.
