    I second reptile gardens, and can confirm that they do sell turtles there (as well as other reptiles/amphibians). Please do your research into the proper care of any pet before you get one ( look up housing, feeding, etc. You and your son could do it together!) And take any questions you have to the people at the reptile gardens, they are extremely knowledgeable!

    Turtles live over 20 years....so I'd suggest you buy something else. But go ask at the reptile gardens. They have a large room full of ones that were formerly pets I believe.

    Best West Pet Foods on 18th is where I got my child's red ear slider. They're really cool pets! But to get all the things they require and tank size is not cheap! They do live a very long time so also take that into consideration as well. Our turtle isn't hard to take care of and it's fun watching him eat and swim around.
