I was a breath test technician for 24 years and when I retired I had over 800 tests. The first thing you need to do is stop lying to yourself, and the second thing to do is to make sure it never happens again.
For you to have been arrested for impaired driving, there had to be some kind of driving evidence. Driving all over the road, crossing the centre line, speeding, aggressive driving, going through a red light are all evidence that the driver may be impaired and something there must have applied to you. There also had to be some personal evidence that the police observed. Stuff like unsteady while standing, staggering, heavy booze smell, things like that. The police just can't stop someone and say you're impaired without any evidence.
The breath test equipment is very expensive and very sophisticated. It is highly computerized and if it was broken, the test instrument itself to say so. It was not broken, you were were just jerking around.
The fact that you went to court and either plead guilty or were found guilty demonstrates that there is more to this story.
So, stop lying to yourself. You got caught. Nobody was hurt or killed. Pay the price and above all, make sure it doesn't happen again.
The term of the court ordered suspension is mandatory and Canada wide. The term was usually 90 days, but what ever the court told you. After the court suspension you can apply for an interlock but it has to be granted by the judge.
