You booked a flight 1 month ago for a week to visit family its a yearly thing your spouse stays home to look after dog etc but, in the mean time your spouse has a accident off work for couple months depends on healing time .Now with your flight booked you have to have home care etc look after your spouse while your gone for a week your spouse is ok with you going .But would you go or stay ?

I would trust their response and go. However, if you're going to be eaten up with guilt the whole time you're gone, it might not be worth it.

I would not be going. Because I don’t want to hear up the road, oh you just had to get away didn’t you. I would see if I could get my money back.

that you have taken on a regular basis then you go. If you don't go, you will resent your spouse for having an accident which prevented you from going, and your spouse will feel guilty because it was their fault you had to stay home. Have a good time, phone home once a day to let you spouse know you are thinking of them and to see how things are going back home.

I was once faced with this situation. I have always regretted not going. But...I would have probably regretted it if I would have gone too. It was a once in a lifetime chance that I gave up....it was a loss either way

was just curious as to what others would do. If you do not like the discussion carry on .

Did you happen to book this with a travel credit card of some kind? If so, maybe you have trip cancellation insurance and not even know it. Most offer $1000 up to $2500 worth. Just a thought.

If it's your wife that's staying home sick/injured, you cancel the trip and wait on her hand & foot and snuggle under the blanket to binge watch chick flicks until she falls asleep. Because if you don't... She'll hold it against you ---FOREVER! She won't show it right away, but on day, it will come bubbling up to the surface. Because, you love your mom more, over her. Women won't say it, but they expect you to know it -kinda thing.  
 
If it's your husband staying back... Fill the bowl of water on the floor before you leave and fill the one for the dog in case he forgets. That's it. He's secretly looking forward to your trip. He'll never admit it, but it's a bit of a staycation for us guys. We got our electronics, the couch, the remote, our favorite clothes you don't like and a few take-out menus -We're in our glory reliving the bachelor days. We'll be disappointed if you don't go. Think of it as a "fishing trip" without the guys and not leaving the house. So, unless he really can't do anything on his own, he'll want you to go.  
 
It's as simple as that. She'll will always want you to show love & security and he want's the mini holiday once in a while. To love them is to know when to read between the lines. ..So don't screw it up, or there will be resentment.  
 
Just my opinion, I could be wrong.

The wounded spouse in a situation- PLEASE go! Post injury depression is a real thing, and you're so reliant on your partner, you feel so guilty even if you shouldn't. Having them miss out on something like this will just add to that- if arrangements can be made so your spouse is taken care of while you're away please go if they've told you to. If for no other reason than their mental health.  
 
Call/check in, tell them you love them, but if your partner has told you to go- take it a face value and go have a good time. They'll still need your support lots when you get home & you'll be better able to give it when you get back.

With Pawprints. Go and have friends drop by to check on the spouse occasionally.

I would ask my spouse what their wisher are and go with it. Assuming you have an open and honest relationship and it is not life threatening. if life threatening I would stay regardless of the response from my spouse
