Plastic Bags
4/1/2007 at 11:49 AM
Somewhere here we had a discussion about plastic bags - the Leaf Rapids ban, using cloth over plastic, a bag tax vs. bag ban etc. For the life of me I cannot remember what grop that was in or where the forum went so I am starting a new.
I saw this in the winnipegfirst.ca news site and it served as a reminder. Even thouhg I do not use plastic bags as a rule you still cannot avoid getting them. If you have excess bags there are a number of places you can drop them.
In Winnipeg (and I would imagine Brandon) here are places that are happy to take excess bags:
- Human Society
- public library (for people to use as book bags at the checkout).
- and, from today's news: Winnipeg Harvest is calling on Winnipeggers to donate used grocery bags.
Harvest reuses clean bags to package goods for its hamper program.
