Retired Teachers’ Pension Plan,
The Legislature is about to resume once again. The opening date is Wednesday, June 6.
June 7, the day following, appears to be the best day to continue to once again make an appearance of Retired Teachers as the Gallery Group. The Pension Task Force, which deals with Pensions issues in the Teachers’ Pension Plan, is currently meeting. The retired Teachers need to keep the pressure up on the NDP government. This is a time consuming project, but to have Retired Teachers in the Gallery as a group as this sitting begins, continues this pressure. It continues to make a very clear statement, even though their issues likely will not be addressed while they are there.
It would be wonderful this time to have 50 or 60 retired teachers out. They have done very well up to now with their numbers, but this is one more opportunity to send a clear and rather urgent message to the new government that it should put some prompt emphasis in the way of fairness to all retired teachers in Manitoba.
The Question Period begins at 1:30 p.m. and participants need to be seated by 1:15 p.m. so it is better to be there ahead of time. Makes parking easier as well. There will be someone in the Lobby with passes. Each time it seems, there is a different method of signing in. Usually if you park on the Leg. Grounds you will need to sign in so that they have your license number - and you have 2 hours free parking. If you park outside the grounds, usually you don't require signing in but are just considered part of this group.
