I'm glad I'm not the only one surprised by their existence. Given how un-local a lot of the modern-day media diet is, however, I suspect this is more common than we think. I believe it was back in 2014 that I noticed that the decrease in participation in local civic elections seemed to coincide with the rise of social media integration.
Not necessarily causation. But it fits.
This website is one area in which Brandon and Westman have a bit of an edge over many other areas. I don't know what the traffic numbers are, but this seems as good a place as any for hosting candidate profiles in a spot that's easily accessible. "
Simonwalcal!! It would be most helpful for those of us who have spent too much time wading through other online media! Now, how do we ask Adam about his for the NEXT election? Not sure if there are enough days before the election for the 2019 candidate info to be posted.
In my day, an "Independent" was called a "swing voter" which is what I am. Interesting how terminology changes through the generations! To me, the label "Independent" is FAR too reminiscent of American political parties. I've always been a staunch Canadian flag-waver and I've become even MORE "Canadian" since Trump came into office. No way, no how do I want to be labeled with ANYTHING remotely American sounding. So I'll stick to being a "swing voter"!!
