success etc

Well, I have to say I didn't have any stolen stuff, except what was pilfered by the squirrels.
My tomatoes were ho-hum this year too. The plants themselves grew really well, but the fruit is just okay. So slow to ripen!! But I'm finding they don't even taste as good as they usually do, despite it being the same varieties I usually grow. I did try a black krim this year, it was probably the tastiest of the bunch.
I didn't get a single pepper. Boo. Peppers and I don't get along, I have yet to have a successful year with those.
My greens did great, I tried some new things and it worked really well. My swiss chard is still going strong (and delicious).
Beets and carrots we've been grazing on, lots are still in the ground but they've been very tasty. I got enough beets to do pickles, so my husband is happy.
My squashes etc didn't do very well, even the zucchini, surprisingly enough. But the spaghetti squash did great at least!
Beans, peas, etc are all average yield. Very tasty though. I stagger planted them this year, jury is still out on that as the latest plantings didn't produce enough to be worth my while.
Potatoes didn't yield as much as I had hoped (or as YouTube promised), but it was our first year. I can think of a few things we'll do different next year.
Perennial fruits all did well in the end despite the slow start. Our apples trees produced tons of apples, but they were really wormy this year and actually they got really bruised on the tree as we had a few days of high wind right before picking (which was later than usual this year). So while I did pick and process some, I didn't do as many as usual as it was a lot of work and they weren't very nice anyway.
