Containers I might put out in a week or two, but I always cover them if it gets anywhere near 5 degrees or less. In fact I plant them with a stake in the middle so that I can drape some towels or blankets over them at first.
My in ground plants I won't put out until after the first week of June as it is just too difficult to cover them if need be (and usually - it needs be!!)
