I Sure Did

Floyd2, For starters, sure did pay the full taxes on my tires, and paid it proudly. Paid the taxes on the original tire purchase and the taxes on the service to Walmart to get them mounted. Each time I go back down there, I just show up and they rotate and balance my tires for the lifetime of my vehicle, no charge.
Actually, I showed up with my tires, and they installed all four for a total of $36, and that includes lifetime rotation and lifetime balance. Even if the Canadian equivalent is closer to $50, I would love to support the local economy but it's tough when you are only left with an option to get overcharged for everything, or go elsewhere in the hopes that local retailers want your business back. Personally, I'm hoping for the ladder, and I hope local companies decide to compete. It's kinda like the debate on eBrandon that always happens about local gas prices being much different than Manitoba communities outside of Brandon. Brandon consumers seem to be always torn between getting gouged, and recognising that maybe they should be looking elsewhere. Sad, but true.
By the tone of your reply, you sound like you may be a garage owner. Just saying. I hope if you are a garage owner, that you choose to buy your tires from the local distributor. I hear Canadian Tire has a huge selection of tires. At some point, these products are going to arrive in Brandon from somewhere else. The question then, needs to be who gets to keep the difference in cost, in that transaction. As a consumer, it's usually going to be me, unless I can see that businesses recognise the principle of a competitive marketplace.
