We are looking for an enthusiastic leader to join our amazing Culinary Services team as our Head Server! The ideal candidate would be interested in working with seniors, leading a great team of servers and have previous serving, food service or health care experience.


This position works 40 hours per week (full-time), every other weekend, and works both our day (6:00am - 2:30pm) and evening (11:00am - 7:30pm) shifts. Starting at $19.50 per hour, eligible for benefits after probation.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
  • Possesses a high school diploma (Grade 12).
  • A current and clear Criminal Record Check including Vulnerable Sector Search, Child Abuse Registry Check, and Adult Abuse Check.
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certification required or must be willing to obtain upon hire.
  • Fully vaccinated against Covid-19.
  • Possesses excellent organizational, time management and multi-tasking skills.
  • Physical and mental health to meet position demands.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Customer-focused attitude.
  • Great attention to detail.
  • Genuine interest in and concern for residents.
  • Must have good attendance in present position.
  • Demonstrated ability to verbally communicate in English.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and understand written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships.
  • Maintains a professional appearance.
  • Possess excellent organizational skills.

Preferred:

  • Minimum of 1 year experience in the provision of dietary service
  • Previous leadership experience
  • Possess current Food Handling Certificate

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works alongside the Culinary Services Coordinator to ensure residents and visitors are provided with a satisfying dining experience
  • Oversees and coordinates the serving staff to ensure high standards of service, quality and compliance with Rotary Villas policies and procedures.
  • Takes meal orders, trays the meals as prepared by the kitchen, and delivers to the tables in the dining room in a timely manner.
  • Develops server checklists to meet organizational standards and ensures detailed and accurate documentation.
  • Ensures the cleanliness and organization of the Dining Room, Bar, Private Dining Room, and servery areas.
  • Adheres to ?Food Safe? food handling/sanitation procedures.
  • Ensures the appropriate use of chemicals to clean and sanitize surfaces, dishes, cutlery, equipment, and surroundings.
  • Uses supplies in a cost-efficient manner and advises manager of required supplies and abnormal usage.
  • Creates a comfortable dining environment for residents and guests through friendly and professional interactions.
  • Escalates and communicates resident and visitor culinary and dining concerns to Culinary Services Coordinator.
  • Supports continuous quality improvement in the culinary department.
  • Reports equipment malfunction and/or repair needs.
  • Attempts to resolve problems in a timely manner, and to the satisfaction of all parties.
  • Communicates to Culinary Services Coordinator or designate shortages of supplies, prior to order deadline.
  • Makes suggestions for operational changes to increase standards and to improve quality.
  • Orientates/supports new staff in their job responsibilities and reports need for additional training to Culinary Services Coordinator, as required.
  • Utilizes professional communication to establish a working relationship with residents, families and co-workers for the purpose of meeting the resident?s needs, ensuring respect, dignity, individuality of each resident and staff member. 
  • Protects confidentiality of residents, staff, and activities of Rotary Villas at Crocus Gardens.
  • Protects own health and health of others by adopting safe work practices, reporting unsafe conditions immediately, and attending all relevant in-services regarding occupational health and safety.
  • Participates in continuing education/in-service programs relevant to role, to ensure skills and abilities are maintained and enhanced.
  • Performs other related duties as required to assist in the provision of quality services to the residents of Rotary Villas at Crocus Gardens.
