Salary: $65,184 to $102,262 annually ($34.58 to $54.25 hourly)

(Educational Supplement: Masters $1.60/hour; PhD $3.19/hour)

Reporting to the Academic Chairperson, Public Safety Institute, will be an instructor for recruit level and experienced officer in-service training delivered to members of the Manitoba First Nations Police Service.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Instruct recruits in a classroom or applied training scenario settings and provide academic assistance during consultation hours.
  • In consultation with the Lead Instructor, modify and/or develop course objectives, course outlines, curricula and evaluation procedures and instruments.
  • Assist in preparing and maintaining all course-related records including evaluation, attendance records, and submit information as required.
  • In consultation with the Lead Instructor, Identify, prepare, and organize course materials and various learning resources for course delivery.
  • Assist in identifying, developing and delivering specialized in-service training to experienced officers when required.

 

Qualifications:

  • Current or recent experience in the policing environment, ideally in First Nation communities
  • Experience instructing adult learners
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and engage with diverse student populations.
  • Proficiency with common computer applications and the internet to prepare lesson plans, reports, presentations, graphics, etc. and ability to operate classroom presentation technology
  • Evidence of post-secondary teaching experience, including curriculum development and knowledge or experience with Moodle or other Learning Management Systems (LMS) would be an asset.
