Youth Development Coordinator (Summer 2026)
Position Description:
The Shilo Military Family Resource Centre (SMFRC) provides a wide range of programs and services to support military families. We are currently seeking a Youth Development Coordinator for the summer of 2026. In this role, you will work closely with the Youth Programs team to support the growth and development of youth within the CFB Shilo community.
Responsibilities include:
- Plan and lead engaging programs for youth, including workshops, recreational activities, and community service projects
- Mentor and support youth in setting and achieving personal and academic goals
- Build partnerships with local organizations, schools, and community groups to enhance programming and increase youth engagement
- Organize and maintain program materials to ensure smooth and effective delivery
- Track and evaluate program success, incorporating feedback for continuous improvement
- Document and report on program activities and outcomes
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Minimum 15 years of age
- Experience working with children and youth in both structured and informal settings
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to follow direction
- Valid First Aid and CPR certification
- Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registry Check
Terms of Employment:

Start Date: Flexible, beginning after July 2 2026, to accommodate high school students? schedules. University and college students may be available to start earlier, typically after the end of their academic year in May 2026.
End Date: Position concludes by August 28, 2026
Hours: 35 hours per week
Location: On-site at Bldg T-99, Roots Youth Centre
Hourly Wage: $17.06 per hour
Other Compensation: Mileage compensation available if commuting more than 16km for work.

As part of the Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) program with the Government of Canada, you must be under the age of 30 at the start of the summer employment term. Unfortunately, international students are not eligible under this program.
