We are looking for a new full-time Pharmacy Assistant who is organized, detail-oriented, and committed to providing excellent customer service. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with our pharmacy team to support the safe and efficient operation of the pharmacy while helping patients with their day-to-day healthcare needs.
Key responsibilities:
- Receive, enter, and process prescription orders accurately using Kroll.
- Prepare and package prescription medications under the supervision of a pharmacist.
- Assist with prescription workflow, including prescription entry, filling, counting, packaging, and organization.
- Assist pharmacists with prescription preparation and other pharmacy-related tasks.
- Provide friendly and professional customer service to patients at the pharmacy counter and over the phone.
- Process prescription refills, transfer requests, and third-party insurance claims.
- Assist patients with general inquiries and direct medication-related questions to the pharmacist when appropriate.
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure confidentiality of patient information.
- Receive, organize, and maintain pharmacy inventory, including ordering and stocking medications and supplies.
- Monitor inventory levels and assist with expiry-date checks and medication returns.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient pharmacy environment.
- Support day-to-day pharmacy operations and other duties as required.
- Work collaboratively with pharmacists, pharmacy assistants, and other team members to ensure efficient pharmacy workflow.
- Follow applicable Manitoba pharmacy legislation, regulatory requirements, workplace policies, and professional standards.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Pharmacy Assistant certification or relevant pharmacy experience is an asset.
- Previous community pharmacy experience is preferred but not required.
- Proficiency with Kroll is an asset.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently while functioning effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally.
- Reliable, dependable, and willing to learn.
- Strong customer-service skills and a patient-centred approach.
- Knowledge of pharmacy workflow and third-party billing is an asset.
