Kayaking/Canoeing in Brandon and surrounding area

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on where to go Kayaking. Any hidden gems out there? Where do you go Kayaking or canoeing? Appreciate any input.

Lake Max’s in the Turtle mountain is nice and then you can go over small portage on to Lulu lake. There is a camping spot on the biggest island that you can tent camp at

Lake max is actually a pretty nice, large lake to canoe. It's reasonably quiet as well far quieter than Metigoshe or Oak lake would be...

want some great canoeing or kayaking come up to the Duck Mountains or another hour north to the Porcupine Mountains. Crystal clear lakes and a few good rivers.

Duck Mountains are beautiful to canoe in. A bit of a drive, but gorgeous country. I grew up around there.

Try kirkhams bridge

Off of the Grand Valley road just west of the trans Canada you'll come to the first bridge but if you go past that a mile or so and turn right following the road up you'll come to the top of the valley or the starting pointof the little Saskatchewan river make sure you go with friends at least one with a second vehicle and take your keys with you or it's one heck.of a walk back

Lake Clementi not the best idea

Went there today to break in 2 new kayaks. First of all, it is all private property so nowhere to launch unless you get permission from an owner. Also, very small lake and boredom will set in quickly.

But I thought that water access to all lakes, unless completely privately owned, was permitted. I think that there is a right of way along the shore line that anyone can use.

Yes, Clementi is a small lake, but it is close to Bdn and it is a great place to learn how to kayak or canoe. If you fall in, stand up! lol
