In pics and video: Demolition of the International Harvester Building

With work set to soon begin on construction a new crossing over the CP tracks at 18th street in Brandon, crews set their sites on a piece of the city’s past to make way for the first of two new spans slated to be built. 

On top of a live image webcam that allows one to monitor progress throughout the week, I stopped by the area on Monday morning with camera in tow to capture initial demolition work on the International Harvester Building at 18th Street and Pacific Avenue. 

Below are a quick video along with a number of pics to capture the scene as workers pushed through an unusually potent wintery storm with the aim of having work complete by the end of the week. The City of Brandon has asked that folks avoid the area where possible, with the Daly Overpass closed to pedestrian traffic and reduced to one lane of vehicle traffic in each direction.
