I liked the BUZZ link to the Winnipeg Free Press article about the imminent movement of the Kootenay Ice from Cranbrook BC to Winnipeg.
I found this after article comment interesting-
"The business will be built upon the various tenants in the event centre (including the Ice and concert events) as well as other money streams, including what’s generated from the specialized sports programs across all ages, land development, sports and wellness clinics, restaurants and retail."
Wow, so a multiplex facility? From past experience I can tell you the city has always struggled to understand the concept of a multiplex. They went from building stand alone arenas that sat empty 14 hrs a day to building twinned arenas or 3 arenas.......that sat empty for 14 hrs a day.
I am glad to see that we are finally starting to see the value in providing proper recreational and healthy living options under one roof.
As much as we are down on multi-purpose facilities, they are often necessary to keep the bills paid.
Would be nice to see continued private development around the keystone center.
