I have always enjoyed playing at Clear Lake, but was disappointed in my recent round. They have really let the grass grow tall in some areas, and rather than look links style it looks unkept and shabby. The greens were super slow and found them long too. The scenery is beautiful, but not worth $90 to play on it.  
 
I also played Poplar Ridge this week and the fairways there are in incredible shape. Well manicured and lush. The greens are coming in really nice, especially the three that they rebuilt this winter. They will be much more player friendly. It really is a course that more people should check out, it’s unfortunate that it is not regarded as highly as Clear Lake, because it really is a well looked after course that is making improvements to the criticism they have had. The price is right too.
