    WHL announces new start date, start social distancing now

    "The Western Hockey League Board of Governors announced today the WHL Regular Season is scheduled to open on Friday, January 8, 2021.  
     
    The WHL has agreed that all Regular Season games during the 2020-21 season will be played exclusively within the boundaries of each of the four Divisions, with the East Division consisting of the seven Saskatchewan and Manitoba-based teams."  
     
    Well, if any hockey fans out there haven't been doing their part by wearing a mask and social distancing, probably time to start now, cuz I can pretty much guarantee with the restrictions we have now there's no way there'll be many fans allowed for Wheat Kings games when the season starts!  
     
    Let's get the spread stopped so we can watch our team kick some butt!! Go Wheaties Go!

    Will be interesting to see what fan involvement looks like... between anyone thats allowed in the building within limits and availability of online streams for those that'd rather watch from home until there are more major developments re Covid (I'm in the second category myself and would be surprised if much happens in the next 2 1/2 months to change that).  Lots of opportunity for new ideas locally to involve folks in lots of different ways!
     
    One big takeaway from this announce will be the rivalries. If you thought Brandon vs. Winnipeg was already one to look out for last year, buckle up!
