Joe Caliguiri Dealt To Cougars
Brandon, Manitoba - The Wheat Kings have dealt 19 year-old Goaltender Joe Caligiuri to the Prince George Cougars in exchange for a 7th round draft pick in the 2009 bantam draft.
Joe is a 3 year WHL veteran from Winnipeg, Manitoba. He was originally selected in the 10th round, 184th overall by the Wheat Kings in the 2004 bantam draft. In 75 career games with the Wheat Kings Caligiuri posted a 2.71 goals against average with 4 shutouts. Caligiuri appeared in two games this season, compiling a 1-1-0 record, a 4.03 goals against average and an .857 save percentage.
A popular member of the Wheat Kings' CIBC Read to Succeed Team, Caligiuri was last year's winner of the McDonalds Frank King Memorial Trophy for being chosen the team's Most Community Minded Player.
The move leaves the Wheat Kings with two goalkeepers on their roster 18- year old Andrew Hayes and newly acquired 17-year old James Priestner.
