Game day thread: Edmonton @ Brandon, 7:30 PM
2/7/2009 at 10:42 AM
Edmonton Oil Kings: 8th in Eastern Conference, 24-28-2-4
Top Scorers: Jeff Lee (18+35=53), Brenden Dowd (23+28=51), Brett Breitkreuz (17+28=45), Brent Raedeke (17+28=45)
Top Defenceman: Brandon Lockerby (5+21=26)
Probable starting goalie: Can't confidently say. Jung (16-17-1-4, 2.58, .910) is their starter, but they did well with backup Lanigan (5-4-0-0, 4.50, 0.858) last time in Brandon... and Jung played last night.
Manitobans: Michael St. Croix (Winnipeg), Brandon Lockerby (Douglas), Jesse Pearson (Winnipeg), Ryan Dech (Winnipeg)
Brandon Wheat Kings, 3rd in Eastern Conference, 36-15-3-1
Top Scorers: Jay Fehr (25+44=69), Brayden Schenn (24+42=66), Andrew Clark (25+31=66), Matt Lowry (12+50=62)
Top Defenceman: Colby Robak (10+21=31)
Probable Starting Goalie: James Priestner (12-6-1-1, 0.882, 3.02) (I've been sucking at guessing this lately though

)
First place watch: Saskatoon does not play tonight. The Blades are currently eight points ahead of Brandon with Brandon having a game in hand.
Anyone expecting an easy game against an eighth place team is likely in for a surprise. The Oil Kings have two wins in three head-to-head games this year, Brandon's only win being 2-1 on Jan 28 despite Edmonton outshooting them 34-27.
The Oil Kings' Dowd is tops in head-to-head games so far this year, with three goals and six points. Wheat Kings' Fehr has three goals and five points.
I'll posts scratches and lineups approx 1/2 hour before game time.
