Schenn for MVP?
3/10/2010 at 9:50 PM
With his 6 point night tonight, Brayden Schenn is now up to 94 on the season in 57 games and is second in the league in points-per-game behind Jordan Eberle (104 points, 55 games). In your opinion has Schenn made himself a legitimate choice for WHL MVP despite being the ten points behind Eberle?
Common wisdom in the NHL at least is that it's very difficult for a player on a non-playoff team to be named MVP unless they were head and shoulders above everyone else.
If your answer is 'no', then you could make a decent case that MVP will be on the line in the home-and-home between the Wheat Kings and Regina to close out the season... how much of the gap statistically would have to be closed for you to consider him over Eberle?
Or do you give a goalie such as Martin Jones in Calgary (34-11-0-1 record, 2.33 goals against average, 0.919 save percentage, eight shutouts), James Reid (36-15-3-2, 2.36 goals against average, 0.921 save percentage) or Drew Owsley (33-11-1-1, 2.51, 0.918) consideration as well?
