Game day thread: Regina @ Wheat Kings, 7:30 PM
3/13/2010 at 10:43 AM
Regina Pats (30-34-3-4, 10th in Eastern Conference)
Top scorers: Jordan Eberle (49+56=105), Jordan Weal (35+67=102), Matt Strueby (37+22=59), Carter Ashton (24+27=51)
Top scoring defenceman: Colten Teubert (10+30=40)
Full scoring: http://whl.ca/stats/statdisplay.php?type=skaters&subType=15&season_id=234&leagueId=26&lastActive=&singleSeason=&confId=0
Probable starting goaltender: Their regular starter Ketlo was injured last night, so I'll guess it's Dawson Guhle (9-12-1-0, 3.73 goals against average, 0.882 save percentage) tonight.
Manitobans: Kyle Mulder (Winnipeg)
---------------------------
Brandon Wheat Kings (49-18-1-3, 2nd in Eastern Conference)
Top scorers: Brayden Schenn (34+65=99), Matt Calvert (47+51=98), Scott Glennie (32+56=88), Aaron Lewadniuk (36+49=85)
Top scoring defenceman: Rolby Robak (16+51=67)

Probable starting goaltender: I could see it going either way. Do you give De Serres the final start before the playoffs and potentially keep building his confidence, or do you start Hayes and rest who many believe will be our playoff starter?
----------------------------
For a game that will have no implications on the standings, tonight's Wheat Kings-Pats regular season finale has a ton of plotlines...
Will Schenn and/or Calvert get to 100 points?
Will Calvert (47 goals) catch Jordan Eberle (49 goals) and perhaps even reach 50 himself?
Will Eberle make it to 50?
There's a good chance that the WHL MVP will be in the building. The odds-on favourite amongst many league fans has been Eberle, but with one more big game could Schenn (or maybe even Calvert) make a strong enough case to take the trophy home?
and then there's also the question of what type of reception Pats' defenceman Colten Teubert will get from Wheat King fans after how the last game between these two teams in Brandon ended.
A reminder to fans going to the game to try to show up a bit earlier. The team will be airing it's player awards on the jumbotron beginning at 7:15.
I'll have lineups and scratches hopefully a bit earlier than normal as well.
