Game day thread: Seattle Thunderbirds @ Wheat Kings, 7:30 PM
11/6/2010 at 12:49 PM
Seattle Thunderbirds (6-3-2-2, Tie-7th in Western Conference)
Top scorers: Burke Gallimore (9 goals, 3 assists, 12 points), Colin Jacobs (5+6=11), Marcel Noebels (4+6=10), Charles Wells (3+6=9)
Top scoring defenceman: Brenden Dillon (0+9=9)
Probable starting goaltender: Calvin Pickard (6-3-2, 2.46 goals against avg, 0.931 save pct) has started all 13 games so far for Seattle. Having not played last night, I'd say he's a strong bet to get the call again tonight.
Manitobans: Travis Bobbee (Arborg), Calvin Pickard (Winnipeg)
Brandon Wheat Kings (7-10-0-1, 9th in Eastern Conference)
Top scorers: Mark Stone (11 goals, 13 assists, 24 points), Scott Glennie (2+13=15), Brodie Melnychuk (3+9=12), Brenden Walker (7+4=11)
Top scoring defenceman: Melnychuk (3+9=12)
Probable starting goaltender: I'll guess that Liam Liston (5-4-0, 2.98 goals against avg, 0.904 save pct) gets the call for the second straight night after last night's first-star performance... setting up a matchup of perhaps the two top young goalies in the WHL.
The Wheat Kings will try to stay on the winning track tonight when they take on Calvin Pickard and the Seattle Thunderbirds. After a few down years, Seattle is off to a good start this year going 6-3-2-2 in their first 13 games.
I'll have lineups and scratches 30-45 mins before game time. As always, it would be great to hear others' thoughts on the matchup.
