Game day thread: Medicine Hat Tigers @ Wheat Kings, 2:30 PM
11/11/2010 at 11:44 AM
Medicine Hat Tigers (9-6-1-0, 7th in Eastern Conference)
Top scorers: Linden Vey (8 goals, 18 assists, 26 points), Wacey Hamilton (8+8=16), Emerson Etem (11+4=15), Ryan Harrison (6+7=13)
Top scoring defenceman: Thomas Carr (3+9=12)
Probable starting goaltender: Both Tyler Bunz and Deven Dubyk have had their successes against the Wheat Kings in the past. With the Tigers playing three games over the next three days, they'll each likely see starts. It'll really be a tossup with this being Dubyk's home province, but I'll go with it being Bunz's (5-4-1-0, 2.59 goals against average, 0.907 save percentage) turn.
Manitobans: Dubyk (Minitonas)
Brandon Wheat Kings (8-11-0-1, 8th in Eastern Conference)
Top scorers: Mark Stone (12 goals, 13 assists, 25 points), Scott Glennie (2+15=17), Brenden Walker (9+4=13), Shayne Wiebe (6+7=13)
Top scoring defenceman: Brodie Melnychuk (3+9=12)
Probable starting goaltender: With Liam Liston having played in seven straight games, Corbin Boes figures to get a start soon.... however with today's game being against the high-powered Medicine Hat Tiger offense I'll guess Liston (6-5-0-1, 2.98 goals against average, .904 save pct) plays tonight and Boes tomorrow.
Always one of the noteworthy games on the Wheat King schedule, the Wheat Kings play their annual Remembrance Day game this afternoon at Westman Place against the Medicine Hat Tigers.
After slumping through the first few weeks of October, Brandon is 4-2-1 over their past seven games. That includes scoring 23 goals over those seven games after scoring just 15 goals in the seven games previous.
As always, it would be great to hear others' thoughts on the matchup pre and post-game.
