Airsoft vs Paintball

My son is interested in Airsoft but I would like to hear the differences and experiences between the two different sportshobbies.
Do we have fields available for both?
(I called the paintball place and they are closed for winter)
Where is the airsoft feild if any?
Which is growing faster?
