Uh? J.D. Watt Traded?

Uh, Red Deer trades Burube and Conditional Draft Pick (Conditions I guess are that hes re-assigned to the WHL) for J.D. Watt
Does this make any sense? I mean, Vancouver is going to lose Festerling, Franson, Mikkelsson and such...but why give up an asset like J.D. Watt's rights?
