Schenn, Fehr in Hockey News Future Watch
2/29/2008 at 11:04 PM
Had a look at the annual Hockey News Future Watch issue today where they rank the top prospects in hockey.
They have former Wheatie Eric Fehr as the #50 prospect in NHL organizations.
They then have a preview of the 2009 draft where they rank Brayden Schenn fourth overall behind John Tavares, Victor Hedman and Jared Cowan. Scout's comments were that:
"He's like (Philadelphia Flyers') Mike Richards but with more skill."
Pretty high praise as Richards is tied for 15th in NHL scoring already at 23 years old.
Others from the WHL were 7th Stefan Elliot (Saskatoon Blades defenceman) and tenth Jimmy Bubnick (Kamloops Blazers and Schenn and Glennie's linemate at the World Under 17 tournament over the holidays)
They only listed the top ten, which Scott Glennie didn't make. 2009 is looking like a very deep draft and it's still a long time away but you'd have to think he has a chance of being pretty high himself by the time all's said and done.
