Thinking of hopping on a plane to catch a Jays game . Looking for some ideas on where to eat and drink before and after a game as well what is a good seat in the Rogers center to watch the game . Also any recommendations for a hotel downtown that doesn't cost a mortgage payment ? Lol. Will go Friday and Saturday and come back home Sunday . Will visit the hockey Hall of Fame for sure any other ideas ?

ive been and i found the hard rock cafe at the stadium a great place to eat, also sat 11th row from first base and they were awsome seats and a great price, if your going to the hhof i would also recommend the tower.

Well,hhof is on the corner of Front and Young,if you walk north about 15 minutes up Young street you will find the Hard Rock Cafe on the corner of Dundas and Young,great food and you might hit a good band upstairs,last time i was there it was Kim Mitchell,Tonys Pub and eatery is just a couple blocks west of queen and young,on college Street,Marcels Bistro on i think its the 300 block of King Street west,not far from stadium.and the stadium itself is a blast,i think i only watched less than 1/2 the game

Gretzkys sports bar had great food and was close by, short walk.  
 
We enjoyed seats in the lower level, you are in the action but it is hard to follow the play depending on where you are. We have done both baselines and right field. We really enjoyed the upper deck tickets too, you can see the ball well but they look a little small down there. Good seat prices.

Thanks for the great info e Brandon people. Now I just got to find a place to stay downtown so I can walk everywhere. I think some of the big chain hotels sometimes have summertime deals .

Thanks for that hotel tip Adam. I will call TravelZoo to see about that offer. Anything under $200 a night for downtown Toronto would be considered a bargain. It will probably be fairly expensive just to get a cab from the airport to downtown. Got to expect premium prices in the big city.

We sat about 20 rows up from 1st base and the seats were great. Never stayed down town but the UP Express from Pearson airport to Union station down town takes 25 minute, based on their website and you can purchase a return trip for $53.

Saw a Jays game last weekend and did the CN Tower, Ripley's Aquarium and a lot of other fun stuff. Downtown is definitely bustling on the weekends. There's a lot going on down by the water including a ton of free entertainment and a Zipline (at least when we were there)! The nice thing about staying downtown is that you can pretty well walk anywhere you want to go in the area. As far as getting there from the airport, I would highly recommend public transport. We didn't use the UP Express mentioned by another poster, and instead hit the bus and subsequent subway trains for the $3 each. It only took just over an hour to get downtown and our hotel was just a short walk from Union Station so it worked out quite nicely. The hotels are definitely pricey, but keep checking sites like Booking or Hotels and perhaps you'll find a good deal. We booked directly through the Westin as they had a great promo running that charged full price for the first night but then only the last 2 digits of your birth year for the subsequent 2 nights so it was comparable to other places for what I feel is a very nice place. The hot dog vendors outside made for a quick cheap bite to eat a couple times too! Have a great trip!

When you get to the airport request a flat rate town car to get downtown. Costs $50 which I have been told is cheaper (told by locals) than a taxi and is a nice ride. Check out trivago for hotel deals. We stayed at the courtyard Marriott which was downtown and close to everything. Between town cars and the subway to can get anywhere...

Like previously posted,take the transit,short busride to Kipling Station and then straight downtown on the Bloor Line,so easy even i did it!  
Get off at the Eaton centre and your smack dab in the middle of GTA.

While downtown,the Union Station is the hub for the subway.If you walk north,inside,you can walk underground,lots of shops,and come out anywhere you want.Also,there is some neat things to do between the Union station and the ACC arena,right beside the skydome and CN tower,also,walk out and north onto Bay street,stop,breathe deep and smell that money,and maybe Kevin Oleary's cologne,lol,so much to see,west on King or Queen,you will see thousands of little shops,pubs and restaurants,lots of walking,the St.Lawrence market is on the corner of Front street and Jarvis,a 10 minute walk from the HHOF,anything and everything,food wise,sooo much to do downtown,im rambling,must stop...

Just make sure you buy your Jays tickets before you book airfare. They're on a huge winning streak and many of the games this month are now sold out.

I've been to 7 games this year! Absolutely love it!! If you wanna be in on the action sit in the lower infield from 1st base to 3rd base area. Lotsa great eats and pubs downtown. I recommend the Amsterdam brewhouse. It's on the water with a great view! Also tour the steam whistle brewery while your there. The loose moose is another great place to eat and drink. Enjoy!! Go blue jays!  

Some great info from folks in this thread. I last went to a game more than a half decade ago but am starting to get the itch myself!
