Does anyone find it kind of funny as to how baseball teams celebrate winning a round of playoffs like they have just won the World Series? I'm extremely happy to see the Jays move on, however, to be boozing/smoking cigars/etc on national television isn't a great image for the game. When an NHL team wins a round of playoffs, they give each other high fives, have a couple beers (behind the cameras) and then start preparing for the next round.

In the NHL over half the league makes the playoffs, which means you're going to have some weaker teams make it in.  
 
In baseball, only 10 teams make it to the postseason, of which 4 play a do or die play in game. So automatically playoff teams are the cream of the crop.  
 
Also, you're talking about a team that had the longest playoff drought in the majors.

10 teams make it in baseball, 16 in hockey. Not a huge difference: but definetely less chances to win rounds of playoffs in baseball.  
 
As for the playoff drought. ALL baseball teams celebrate this way - whether it has been 22 years or 22 months since they were last in the playoffs.

You are actually criticizing the Jays for celebrating going onto the AL finals? Do you have any idea how much of an accomplishment that is?  
Totally agree with Trevor, making the playoffs in baseball is A LOT harder than in hockey. The whole country is celebrating with them and ecstatic. I suggest getting on the bandwagon or finding more things to fill out your day.

Not criticizing anyone. Just find it kind of odd how baseball teams carry on for just winning a playoff series. None of the teams going to the ALCS or NLCS have won anything as yet. The two teams that win this round will also celebrate like crazy, still having won nothing. Win the whole thing, and then you can party for a month straight!!!

Baseball sells the rights to sponsor the locker room party to Budweiser so the teams are asked to have a party. If they all file into the locker room and sit quietly no one is going to pay to sponsor the party next year.

Yes, you were actually criticizing. For no reason other than you don't think teams have the right to celebrate until they win the World Series. Let the guys celebrate as much as they want. You can't tell me that you would sit in the corner and not drink beer and smoke a cigar if you were in the same situation. Like I said, everyone else in this country is celebrating, you seem to be the only one trying to be a downer.

However, they haven't won anything!! It is one playoff series, 2 more to go. Congratulate each other, and then start preparing for KC.

since it is best of 5 games, a lot tougher to win and advance.

Baseball plays a 162 game schedule. Then there is the playoffs. Grueling, emotional, frustrating, painful season. Away from home, families, friends, pets..... If I was in the game, I'd be celebrating like that every time I won a game let alone a series. Go Jays

NASCAR, golf, soccer, football, rugby, darts, poker, etc.  
 
It is kinda funny that hockey players don't seem to care if they win or lose.
