With the weather outlook for the weekend warming up, looking to go drop a line down a hole.  
Looking for quantity for I will have three young children, don't care what species either (perch/pike). Looking for no more than 1.5 hrs from Brandon.

Perch are probably going to be your best bet to keep the kids interested. I would try Max or Williams both south of Boissevain or the Boissevain Reservoir which is a mile or so east of Boissevain. Good luck .

Problem is you have people that go out every weekend and fish. They spend countless hours on the lake,either summer or winter. They do research make notes look at depth maps all to get a better idea were the fish might be. Then you have some one who wants to be given a location because they want to go out one day a catch fish. Your never guaranteed to catch fish ever. But the more you are out the better you will do. And yes I was out on the lake last weekend before sun up till after sun went down, both days

And I am sure your father never asked anyone where fishing was good??? The poster just asked where some fish are because he wants to take 3 kids out and make sure they have a good time..kids aren't quite as patient as us to sit there all day even if it's slow. Kids are more intrigued and will want to go again if they catch something and the poster obviously wants to spend quality time with kids...to bad people like you always have to try and make things difficult.

I know you said 1.5 hours but the fishing is hot at Dauphin lake apparently.

Was a place to take his kids fishing so maybe they'll catch something and have an enjoyable day. He didn't ask for a free feed of walleye or anything like that. Perch reproduce so fast they become a nuisance fish in some lakes so the more people fishing for them the better. I commend him for going through all the trouble of getting 3 youngsters out fishing in the winter and hope he's able to get a few holes that produce for him. Thanks Torque, I'll have to try Dauphin...

Anton's lake by Minnedosa, be safe and seeing they're kids wouldn't hurt to have life jackets on them... You never know where there are underground springs and thin ice  
 

Is great just stop at Sticky baites before you head out; not sure if this is the best place to take kids though?

Max lake for sure for kids. Just walk straight out from the beach and fish close to the island. You will be catching no joke hundreds of perch and can see them right at the hole too. I took my 3 year old fishing there a few weeks ago. He loved it.

Probably not the best place to go with kids as the aerator is running and there is open water.

We were getting 20-30 pike days just by the mouth on the pipestone side of oak lake.

I think we will try Max, haven't been down that way for awhile.  
I understand someone who puts in the time and $ to catch fish, I wasn't looking for your hot-spot, just wanted to know of a lake that the kids would catch something.  
Will let you know how we make out.
