Toyota Super Fan for the 2007-2008 WHL season
5/14/2008 at 10:43 AM
Calgary, Alberta - A longtime Brandon Wheat Kings' Season Ticket holder has been named the Western Hockey League's Toyota Super Fan for the 2007-2008 campaign.
The WHL, in conjunction with Toyota, is pleased to announce that Brandon's Tricia Brannan has won the award, after entering the contest that was featured on the league's official website this past season.
As the WHL's Toyota Super Fan and thanks to the Toyota Prairie dealers, Tricia has won a trip to the 2008 Memorial Cup in Kitchener, Ontario.
Her grand prize consists of two tickets to both Friday's Semi-Final and Sunday's Championship Final on May 25th, two return flights to Toronto via WestJet, ground transportation from Toronto to Kitchener, hotel accommodations and $500 spending money.
In order to enter the contest, WHL fans were encouraged to submit a 150 word essay on why they should be considered.
Her winning story:
Ask ANYONE who knows me - I AM the Toyota SuperFan! I have supported the Brandon Wheat Kings through thick (1995 and 1996 Memorial Cup appearances) and thin (1991-92 11 win season). I started going in 1986-87 and I have not missed a single game since February 11, 1998. I attended the '95 Memorial Cup in Kamloops, B.C. and the '96 Memorial Cup in Peterborough, Ontario. I have been on many road trips - Edmonton, Calgary, Moose Jaw, Saskatoon, Swift Current, Prince Albert, Regina and Winnipeg! I have kept scrapbooks and scores since 1986-87. I keep my fellow employees updated on the Wheat Kings (if they like it or not!). My desktop screen is the Wheat Kings' schedule! I take my radio to restaurants or movies if there is a road game! I love the exhilaration of the Wheat Kings winning a big game or especially when they score the overtime goal!
It's this unwavering dedication to her team that makes Tricia a true fan...and this year's Toyota WHL Superfan.
Meanwhile ten other finalists received secondary prizes of authentic team jerseys and apparel.
This year's Memorial Cup will feature the WHL Champion Spokane Chiefs, the Gatineau Olympiques, the Belleville Bulls and Kitchener Rangers.
