Wheat Kings, 2017 Playoffs

The Wheat Kings begin the 2017 WHL playoffs tonight and tomorrow in Medicine Hat vs the Tigers. Though the WKs finished quite a bit further back in the standings, a lot of unknowns that could answer either way what kind of series we'll see.. not the least of which being:

- how much of their roster will Brandon have to start the series, and how many will be playing at full health. A lot of important players didn’t play in the last game of the season.
-what kind of environment will we see in Dauphin? in the past when first round games had to be played in Winnipeg there wasnt necessarily a lot of atmosphere or true home ice advantage. There’s a chance for something very different with the smaller building and the closer location to Brandon.
- can't overlook the fact that about half of the Wheat Kings' roster were part of the WHL championship team last year... versus a Tiger team that didn't make the playoffs.

Looks like 19 is expected to miss at least the game tonight..... though with it being playoffs I guess you just never know as it wouldnt normally be typical to volunteer that kind of info on a game day?

The injury bug still among the team, and in my opinion shaky goaltending, it will be an early exit this year.

What team have you been watching this year? We wouldn't even be in the playoffs without the goaltending we've had. Thompson has been standing on his head all season

Team have you been watching, just watch all the highlights, got to make those easy saves, by the way check the save percentage.

Didn't see the game to see the quality of goals, but when you give up 9 powerplays and 52 shots there are a lot of areas to focus on for improvement before blaming the goalie. Know that the guys have a lot more to give, already a very big test tonight and goes without saying a big difference between coming to Dauphin tied 1-1 or down 2-0.

Sounded like they played a bit better in game two and mounted a nice comeback in the third. SOG were still pretty lopsided. All season I've felt that given the talent they have they just haven't played up to their potential. I had high hopes for the playoffs. Thompson went off near the end of the third after a collision. Hope he''s not injured.

Hate to say it, but I really cannot see the BWK winnning 4 of the next 5 games. I'll be surprised if they win 1.

Tickets For Dauphin

I'm sorry but pardon my stupidity. Where are the tickets for sale for the two Dauphin games. Wheatking site just says "click to the left" but there is nothing to click on to the left. Nothing on ticket master and nothing on the Dauphin Credit Union Place site. Please help. Is the game sold out??

You can call 726-3535 to buy tickets, then after you've bought they will be at the rink for you to pickup. There are less than 200 for tonight available and less than 400 for tomorrow as of now

What a great place to watch a game Dauphin's rink is. Fun, boisterous atmosphere where every seat seemed close to the game. Seemed like a nice mix of Brandon and area folks and people from Dauphin and nearby towns. Unfortunately not the third period they needed... hopefully the guys are able to show the Tigers their best 60 tonight!
