Hi Darrell,  
The confirmation system is working though it’s possible that as per usual spam filters may get in the way on the receiver end. I do recommend posting through the ad submission link while logged into your account so you don’t have to worry about confirming, though that’s optional.  
I don’t monitor the support box 24/7 but do check it daily and will be having a look after lunch and will get back to you

where did my classifieds go?

I can no longer see my posted ads when i login

The issue comes in how the old site linked ads to accounts. It was a little lazy and would list anything on your account ads page that happened to be posted under the same email address as your account (even if you weren't logged into your account). The new site needs you to be logged into your account when posting an ad if that ad is to be listed on your "My posted ads" page and so if there were old ads that you didn't actually post through your account they wont be listed. Going forward any ad you post under your account will be listed on your "My posted ads" link.  
 
For old ads posted before we made the switch, you have a couple options:  
- fill out a login reminder form at https://ebrandon.ca/login_reminder_classified.aspx with your email address. The system will send you the IDs and passwords for each ad  
- send me a note through the Contact link and I can manually link them in for you as long as your email address matches your account.  
 
Looking forward to how smoothly the new system integrates with accounts for those that choose to post ads that way but there will be this bit of awkwardness for a couple weeks for folks that had posted ads through the old awkward account system.

When I click on some news headlines from the News tab I get a blank page.

Also, I still have a confirmed ad from Saturday that is sitting in limbo.

Re the news link, that exact news page bug was there in the early hours after launch. As far as I knew was fixed but maybe there's an obscure place its still hanging around. I took a look and cant find any links (including that one) that are doing it. Can you give me an example of one of the links that are on the screen right when you first load the page that are doing the same thing for you?  
 
Re the ad, I'll send you a note privately to discuss.  
Generally speaking I'd say that things will be the same as the prev site if submitting an ad and it isn't through an account. 95% of submissions will go right through but some would require admin approval. To ensure an ad goes right through the best thing to do is submit through an account.

That link is an example of the issue. Now all the links are doing the same thing.

It's nice to reply to previous posts by quoting what the poster said, but it would be more practical to selectively quote what you want to reply to. If a prior post is long or also quotes other posts, then quoting THAT post becomes a long post to scroll through. Not sure if this is feasible, but would be a screen space saver if it is.

a classified but never got an email and now I might have to make some changes to the ad and don't know how.

If you’ve posted through your account, No more need to fumble around with confirmation emails, IDs, passwords. Have a look in your user menu at the top for the “my posted ads” link

How do I 'report' a classified ad now?

I'm not a fan of the new discussion main page on OC browser. It ends up being a mile long and have to scroll a lot to get to the topics area.  
The length could be reduced by using a side-by-side layout on screens of a certain width, or perhaps a menu coice be presented with topics, newest threads, and newest replies/hot topics ?

Thanks for your help with reports. You’ll see a “flag” icon on content that leads into the reporting system.  
 
In the classifieds it’ll be in the right-hand column by the share icons on larger screens. On smaller screens it’ll be a little more of a scroll.  
On the forums there’s a flag next to each post.

The recipes had been all but phased out with an update a few years ago. For legacy purposes it had been kept alive with a small link at the bottom of the screen but it’s another small rarely used section of the site whose time had come. It was a fun experiment in its day but there are sites online that do recipes so well and it’s best eBrandon focuses on its strengths as far as unique services it can provide to local folks.  
 
All that said if there happens to be an old recipe you’re trying to track down, I still have the data... shoot me a note through the contact link and I should be able to help out!

Issue I think should now be found and fixed. The main news page itself was fine but the links on the larger listing pages that come up when you click on "more" were doing what you described. Pls confirm.

The page was setup on the assumption that a large percentage of folks are just looking for a list of the most recently active topics.. I'm always looking to hear about usage patterns and see if I cant optimize further... can you walk me through a typical check of discussions for you?

There was definitely some awkwardness with the prev setup when there ended up being quotes of quotes of quotes. With this update I tried to keep it simple and have it so that if you quote a post, you're quoting the most recent comment that someone made. i.e. if you're quoting Person A, whose post quotes Person B your own post would show as quoting Person A's comments.

Thanks Adam! I wondered if it was one of those icons, but when I hover over them, it doesn't tell me what they are, so I wasn't certain.

When you "favorite" an advertisement in list view, it returns you to the top of the page, which you then need to scroll down to where you left off, instead of returning you to the adv. you just favoured. Also, I miss the list of recent adds like the old eBrandon had on the main page.

If I've been on recently , I might just go through the recent posts and be done, but if I've been away for a few days or whatever, I'll also look at a couple of the topics I find interesting like cellphones and wireless, and look there to see if I missed something.  
 
When starting a new discussion, I'd go into the topic and then press the button to start a new...

congrats on the new site - the only thing i don't like so far is when i clicked on the main options in classifieds it would bring up the newest ads in each sub option - example i clicked on automotive and i could scroll through the latest now i haVE to go through each sub listing to see whats new --

on the classified's page - right hand side, there is a:  
 
Recently Posted ads, click on that, and you will see all ads.

In any longer discussion thread (this one is a good example), if you have been following, it would be nice to have a link to get you directly to the most recent post rather than go to the last page and scroll all the way to the bottom. In the old version of eBrandon each thread had 2 ways to get there. I haven't found that in this nice fresh new version. Oversight or too troublesome?

How do you see your profile? I use to click on the little account icon and then classifieds but I don’t see any of that. Now if I click on the person icon I am asked to login which I do but then nothing comes up. If I go through classifieds it asks me to log in again still nothing happens.
