Did you ask them why it is so expensive?

Brandon Police Services lists $40 as the cost on their website. RCMP (ie- small town Manitoba) lists $25. Winnipeg Police Services lists $45.  
 
If you are applying for the check in order to volunteer, the fee is waived with the RCMP. WPS does not mention a reduced fee. BPS lists only $13.  
 
None of the above costs seem unreasonable to me.

Will do it within the hour online for $55 if you prefer.

I agree it’s a rip off but lot of employers will state “from your local police station” so the online sites might not be accepted by all employers. Licensed day cares follow Provincial Government rules which state an original CRC (also not sure if online print outs without a police seal would be accepted).

I got my vulnerable and criminal check (its all one thing if you ask for vulnerable check and just one page) Cost $10. Do have to wait a week. Which is really not long.  
 
RCMP - you have to live in the area that your detachment is.  
 
Brandon and Winnipeg have their own police services so they charge whatever they want.  
 
I wouldn't get it done at any of the other places as they may not have the access that is needed and it is prudent to do so.  
 
When you get it, make sure you make a copy for yourself. The employer or volunteer organization should view the original; make a copy and return the original. They are not suppose to keep the original.
