When is the best time to go to the hospital when having contractions?  
How is Brandon Hospital ?

Most women don’t have their water break until in full labour. If contractions are steady and getting closer together, go in. Worst case scenario is they send you home again, but better safe than sorry.

Generally speaking they say use the 5:1:1 rule. 5 minutes apart, lasting 1 minute long, for the duration of at least 1 hour.

If you are not yet due and having any sort of REGULAR contractions (not just Braxton hicks) , head to the hospital. We all want baby to bake as long as possible!  
 
Brandon hospital is good. Nice rooms! Staff is good, there are some sour grapes in every bunch but my nurses 3 out of 4 deliveries were exceptional! Doctors were professional. Even though I am done having kids, I will miss that first night with a new baby.... oh the memories.  
 
I'll also add that if you are GBS+ you will want to head into the hospital relatively quick to make sure you get 2 doses of antibiotics before baby comes, expecially if your water breaks, but as a previous person said water breaking prior to everything starting is pretty uncommon. If it is your first baby labor will probably take a bit of time, but it is soemthing to keep in the back of your mind.

Wonderful place to have your baby. My first child I went in early, was a good thing as the doctor had to break my water. Had a healthy baby boy, we were well looked after! Good memories! Congratulations to you!

When I had my first (I didn’t live here) i lived 3 hours away from where I needed to deliver so I went in (after my water broke) and got checked and was having contractions but they were very painful yet and wasn’t dilated much so they said if I wanted to go and come back I could. We left for quite a few hours shopping and walking around to try to speed things up (I didn’t want to be induced and once you’re water breaks your on a clock). I think I went back 6 hours later.  
With my second again I was living in a remote town and went into the local hospital after a few hours to get checked and then proceeded to make the 3 hour drive.  
There is no harm in getting checked to see your progress, helps to know where your at and then you can decide from there if you want to labour at home a bit longer or get admitted and do it at the hospital.
