I had gel nails done two weeks ago today & about a week after they were done I noticed that they were lifting on the sides & have just gotten worse. Anyone else have this problem or recommend a good gel nail tech. At $45.00 a fill I feel they should last at least three weeks to a month.

this happened to me all the time, it didn't matter where I went or who I went to see. I stopped getting gel's for this reason (couldn't justify spending $45+ on a set that lifted after a week or so.  
 
Ive been told to try acrylics with a gel overlay to see if that helps. I've been told/googled why the lift and it may just because my nail beds are to oily. I haven't tried acrylics yet so I'm not sure if they're better but if anyone can comment on it that'd be great!! i'll be watching this post!

But that sounds like something was not done right.  
 
I have had them only a couple of times. The last time I had them done at Nancy's Nails and could not be more thrilled with them.  
 
They looked brand new when I went to have them taken off, in fact it took far more effort for them to get them off than usual. Would have loved to have them stay on but I knew with garden season they would always be gross. I did a lot of crazy stuff while I had them on too, I was not delicate - I scuba dove, did a lot of swimming, played a game of ultimate frisbee....just tons of physical stuff.

I had the same problem with my nails. I found Nails by Randi down at Bladeworx and haven't had an issue yet. She's fabulous!

On occasion they just don't work well on some people. Shellac polish is a good option to try. Many people can grow there own nails really nice with that. It lasts aprox 2 weeks and takes only an hour at most and is much cheaper. If you can find a polish that matches you can repair if you do have any trouble in between visits.  

Any chance you're using a hand lotion with mineral oil in it? That'll do it.

Every nail tech's chagrin I far prefer acrylic tips to gel lol. You can get all sorts of tips put on too!

Try and go back to that place and tell them? Could have been improper prep, so would be good to let the tech know so they can fix what their doing wrong. Also I've had my gels lift too but I do a lot with my hands and have fairly oily skin which causes them to lift.

Nail tech did an extra dehydrate last time & said it should be better. Nope. Might have to try a different nail tech.
