The item might only be $5 then they want you drop it off too. Seriously if you CANT pick it up then don't even offer to purchase it unless you specify in the first place and then do expect the price to go up. " |

This annoys me when I'm giving something away for free. Someone will comment they want it and than ask when I can drop it off...umm, no. Unless the ad states that they'll deliver, I'd never ask for delivery but that's just me.
Op, it does suck but maybe after saying yes, they realized that it would be some work and gas money and decided that they needed to charge a fee. If you can't afford it than just say no thanks. If they really want it gone, they might reconsider and charge less. For future, I'd save up a bit before buying something large and offer to pay for delivery. It seems like the right thing to do imo " |

I offer to pay something for delivery depending on size. It's courtesy. I have received a nice desk once and offered to pay for delivery. The person delivering said, "No, just pay it forward". Sweet! So I will sometimes deliver for free when it's along the way to my destination.
But ya, specifics should always be discussed before the meeting of exchange.
A bit off topic: I get irked by potential buyer who make an offer and say "I only have this much on me" routine, yet agreed on phone or email on price already. Sometimes I will allow offers in person, but usually let them ahead and say "Come see it, and test it and then let me know if you want to make offer".
