Hi I am hoping someone can help me find a way that I could find out a registration or serial number of an aircraft. What I am trying to do is find out information regarding the crash of a RCAF pilot back in the 50's. I have contacted every source I can think of and my last hope is the Library and Archives Canada. They likely have record of this but they need me to provide a registration or serial number for the plane and the pilots name. However I know neither. Would the registration number be plainly visible on a plane? Where would you find that info about an aircraft? Thanks for any ideas on how I could get info that goes so far back.

There should be a number on the a/c, a tail code. That number can be searched.  
 
You can contact Canadian Wings, they have tons of historical info and may be able to narrow it down. what type of a/c are you talking about?

So much for this link! However when I do a search and click on what I want to read it just goes to the main page of RCAF.com......?  
It was a T-33 that took off from the MacDonald station April 17, 1957. The pilot crashed in a field just west of Poplar Point. I found the newspaper articles at the library in Portage but they offer little to no info.

I know it may be a long shot, but try the Air Force Base in Moose Jaw. They have a lot of history of the RCAF there...

When and where did this crash occur? Sometimes you can get the inforamtion you want from this information.

Found a post-war training casualty list. The only casualty was in 1953.

I work for the RCAF, and have had a lot of contact with the Vintage Wings people. They have a contact number on that webpage. They would be a good bet to help you. I know quite a few old vets that work for them.
