Road conditions on #1? What is the highway like from Carberry to Brandon?

Hwy 1 is closed in both directions Brandon- Headingley as of 8 AM.

The highway doesn't look that bad. I would travel in that. I see they shut down 2 and 3 hwys around Winnipeg.

You need a truck and 4x4 to get down there. Southbound lane deep, heavy snow. Northbound lane drifts and very icy.
Wouldn't recommend travel until the plows and sand trucks go over it.

RedisBest - there is pretty much NO visibility near Boissevain this morning. I live 6 miles away from Boissevain and didn't go to work this morning, can't see where the road is!

We tried taking 24 hwy from rapid city to number 10 this morning. We got stuck a quarter of the way. Took us 40 minutes to drive to number 10 turn around and drive home

Did a trip to Brandon and back from minnedosa. Wasn't too bad, if you take it slow. Did 80 the entire way, probably could have gone faster if I really wanted to. Not too much snow on the road, some ice, but a lot of blowing snow. Wasn't the worst thing I've driven in

Has anyone been on Highway 25 since this morning? Need to get home to Rivers and am just wondering whether the plows have been on it yet? It was awful this morning!

Wondering if plows have been on HWY 25 or 270 yet? Both were horrendous this morning and would rather not drive through it again

finally they closed that road!!!, i went threw about an hour ago and brandon to riverside hill was snow packed but not horrible unfortunately the valley has deep deep snow and several cars stuck at the bottom in the middle of the road before the bridge, three semis there too and a line up of semis on either side of the hill waiting for the plows plus a few vehicles stuck half way up the hill, lucily i made it home but i would have stayed at work if 511 had reported it closed earlier

the big toe from full tilt was at the top doing his best to get everyone on their way again, he has hours of work ahead of him tonight for sure

Just got back home. #10 to 25 was partly covered at worst. #25 to Rivers is very ice/snow covered and visibility is not good at all. Way better than this morning but still not good.

Just got back home. #10 to 25 was partly covered at worst. #25 to Rivers is very ice/snow covered and visibility is not good at all. Way better than this morning but still not good.

maybe I'm just miss reading the 511 road map but what I see is that #1 is closed west bound only but I went to leave Brandon and had to turn back because #1 east is also closed. When it says 1 west does that mean both sides west of Wpg? I know they can't keep a minute by minute report going I'm just wondering is all because 1 east was closed this morning but not west, then 1 west pretty much all day.

It's west of Winnipeg. Unless stated direction it is both. ie both west bound and east bound west of Winnipeg. They update when there are changes. If no change then no new update. It is open now from Winnipeg to Hwy 16. Hopefully the rest will open by the morning.
