I am not the most tech savvy person when it comes to knowing what's available, so im looking for some ideas.  
 
One of my kids sleeps much better when there is music constantly playing. At home, I just have one of my old phones in her room and have a YouTube playlist of lullabies that I just leave playing all night (with the phone face down so that the light doesn't bother her).  
 
There has to be a better and more convenient way to do this... but I'm drawing a total blank! Ideally, I'd like something portable that doesn't require an internet connection so that when we're somewhere other than home, it's easy. Being fairly inexpensive would also be appreciated!

There are many ways to download music to various devices. If the phone is an iPhone you could try Apple Music, I have a family share plan, $15 a month for unlimited downloads on up to I think 6 devices. I’m sure there are plans for android or Google phones too.  
 
Or use youtubetomp3. It’s super easy to convert YouTube videos to an mp3 format, then you can transfer them to your device.

What about a small CD player on repeat all?  
Honestly what you’re doing already is likely easiest. You could download music onto it for use when you don’t have internet.

Spotify is amazing. You can get the free version (with ads like you would get on youtube) or pay like $10 to get premium.  
 
The premium gives you no ads and allows you to "download" the songs so you can play them in offline mode (without internet) and on the go.  
 
I love mine.

When my mother was in the hospital, she found the ear bud for the TV uncomfortable. At that time I found a `pillow speaker' at what was radio shack - it is a small (3-4 inch square plastic speaker) that sits next to the listener's head on the pillow. It worked great - loud enough for her (with volume adjustment) but not loud enough for other patients to hear. I don't know if any local stores carry them, but Amazon is an option. Also, I see MP3 players for sale on Amazon at less than $20.

Spotify plus a bluetooth speaker for us. I don't willingly take on monthly expenses very often but this is one we get so much value for for our $10, especially for music for kiddo in the exact situation you're describing. There are quite a few playlists for relaxing music, bed time, etc... or you can make your own pretty easily.  
 
I use Apple for everything else and so really want to like Apple Music. Have given it a try a couple times but keep coming back to Spotify for its interface and features.  
 
As far as not having an internet connection, we've been in that situation a few times when travelling and the Spotify app has an option for you to (legally) download songs from your playlists for offline listening if you happen to be away from a connection for a period of time. Pretty sure Apple has something comparable.

I also use Google Play and love it. Lots of free playlists if you dont want to subscribe monthly.

All this monthly payments is too much for our family. Cheap CD player and 1 CD on repeat does the job perfect. Why make things more complicated than they have to be lol

How about a $10.00 clock radio?

I'm going to try to find a cheap CD player (kind of forgot about those! haha) and if that doesn't pan out, I will definitely look into some of the other options. Thanks again!

I noticed had cd players and also saw a MP3 player there. Never looked at the prices though. Don't imaging anything to crazy for a price.

I'll definitely check there... I often forget about Princess Auto, but I know I've found great deals there before.

Spotify has free music and playlists, just type in lullabies and then click on playlists and there are a bunch of them. For offline listening you could download the playlists you use on youtube.
