Is anybody else as clueless about how to use this as I am!?? Seems like it might replace Facebook in some way. I don’t understand how it works. I guess I could “google” it... I do know how that works! Lol. Sometimes I feel so old when it comes to technology!! Does anybody have any advice on getting started with Instagram?

It's more to just post pictures. Good for a business account, posting pictures of your work without having to friend someone. I keep Facebook as my more private page and instagram for work.

I've always thought of it as the Facebook without the drama... just lots of pics of where people are or what they're doing. And the "famous" people are easy to find and its not all that bad to follow.

I figured it out and am still doing so with the help of a young adult & trial and error. Sometimes I have made mistakes, but that is a part of learning.

Pretty straight forward. You post pictures and short videos for others to see. You can also see other pictures and videos of people you follow. Nothing more, nothing less. Recently they have started introducing ads which clearly they don't filter. You get ads for cannabis companies, sex toys, beer, clothing its really quite random but not overly intrusive. You can also start a live stream as well. I have used Insta for years and I prefer it to Facebook but they are two completely different platforms.

It was a bit of a learning curve but I figured it out eventually.

My kids post those little videos - but is there a way to save them? And as far as posting....can't figure it out...lol

Instagram is a place where you can post photography or selfies and hashtag (#) what it's about.  
 
If you take a selfie than you can #Selfie or is its a sunset photo you can #sunset.  
 
It's a very awesome and easy platform to use once you find out how to.

I still don’t know the big difference between the 2 lol. Most of the people I follow on there also post the same pictures on fb. I do follow celebrities on IG that I don’t on fb so I guess there’s that?

I don't get ads like this at all.

I agree. I don't get ads like this. I only ever see ads to things I have recently looked at online.

I have also never seen ads like that. Mostly game app ads, apple ads etc.

I did a google search the other day for a craft item that I have never searched for before. Guess what keeps popping up in my instagram now. Lol. You better take a look at your google search history because someone in your house is looking up sexy toys and marijuana lmao

Nah. Facebook, Instagram, Google use targeted ads based on what you search through cookies left behind after visiting websites. Luckily for me its not my first day on the internet so I have programs that block all that. I don't need companies following me online and bombarding me with ads. Only see random ones on Instagram.  
 
Oh and by the way there is no such thing as a google search history. I think you mean web browser history but again that doesn't apply to me as the browser I use dumps my history when I close the window.  
 
If you don't want to see those craft ads I suggest you block cookies and do some Googling and learn to use the internet without being harassed it really is much more enjoyable minus the random ads Instagram slips in.
