gmail change meet your new inbox

ok I know my user name but can not remember password so you ask the gmail people for help they say do you remember your password no if I did I would not be asking you I have tried every which way I can . All I want is to keep my user name so how do I get through to them ? ( I get I may need a new password ) help please

If you have set up your account with an alternative Email address (i.e. hotmail, yahoo) or your cell phone #, you can easily reset your password.
If you didn't, you somehow have to manage to prove your identity related to the account in question to the Gmail admins.
I wish you good luck with that.

There was a button to push if you forgot your password. I pressed that and they let me put in a new password and let me proceed from there.
